Hello, I'm getting ready to configure AutoCAD's license timeout, and reading AutoDesk's article TS67304 got me wondering about this. The article states the following: ------------------------- Idle Period: Any of the following activity in the active Autodesk application prevents the client workstation from being idle: Any keystrokes Any mouse click Any command, Lisp expression, menu macro or script in progress Any modal dialog is opened (a dialog box which needs to close before continuing to other tasks) ------------------------- Does this mean that if let's say I have autosave configured at 20 minutes, and the license idle period set at 30 minutes that it will never timeout? Hope someone can clarify this for me. Thanks.
I have our settings to autosave every 10:th minute and the timeout set for 15 minutes. And it works as it should. Autosave doesn't seem to affect it. -- Best Regards, Jimmy Bergmark CAD and Database Developer Manager at www.pharmadule-emtunga.com Blog: http://jtbworld.blogspot.com JTB FlexReport (FLEXnet / FLEXlm report tool) - www.jtbworld.com/jtbflexreport SmartPurger (Purges automatically) - www.jtbworld.com/?/smartpurger.htm or download some freeware at www.jtbworld.com More on AutoCAD 2005; www.jtbworld.com/autocad2005.htm
Autosave only activates if there are changes to the drawing. If it just sits there with no changes being made then there is no Autosave and the license will timeout. If there are changes being made then the license will not time out anyway. So as Jimmy said: Autosave has no effect. Allen
