  2. In my opinion ...

A programmer does not a coordinator make, and vice versa.

That is to say that "Coordinating AutoCAD / Rebis (note the spelling of Rebis) activities" throughout the respective piping, civil, electrical, instrumentation disciplines requires completely different experience and expertise than efficiently authoring programs in Visual LISP, Visual BASIC etc.

While you will certainly find individuals willing to wear both hats, and some can, in my opinion your company will be better served by recognizing the distinction between the two roles and interview / hire staff accordingly.

Our company has a core of 5 cadd programmers / support personnel, who provide programming / support services to approximately a dozen or so cadd coordinators, for over 200 cadd operators.

Oh yes, we are a petro-chem engineering company; I've worked in the engineering industry since about 1978.

    For what it's worth,

    Respectfully,

    Michael
