Autodesk at it again

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by Rock Guy, Dec 27, 2005.

  1. Yes I saw it as well, that is probably the most classless add that I have
seen . Reminded me of Election year, when the Politicians knock each other
with negative adds. Autodesk really ought to be ashamed of themselves, but I
    doubt that they are.

"It seems like a good program if I was a machinist"

If one throws enough shit at the wall something is bound to stick. You
are correct VX has tools that many machinists need. Is this what VX is
    really *all* about ? Nope.

VX is a great program if your a designer who needs to create
aesthetically pleasing surfaces rather than solid blocks.

Unlike VX, SaladWorks is a lousy program for anyone who has to work
with imported data as SaladWorks treats imported data like it's an
illegal alien. VX is nothing like IronCAD. As I said to you in the
other thread its time for you to get specific on why VX is like
    IronCAD.

"I was not saying that we shouldn't discuss other CAD packages, just
that we should not be trying to sell them to each other."

    I don't sell software.

My posts are meant for the many SaladWorks users who are sick of the
bullshit and who are ready to step up to a CADCAM product that has been
conceived from the get go as hybrid modeler rather then a solid modeler
    with surface tools grafted on.

As the market for those moving from 2D to 3D gets more and more
saturated it's going to be more about having a 3D program that can deal
with what the real world throws at you. SaladWorks can't deal with many
real world situations that VX can.

The best thing a frustrated SaladWorks user can do with SaladWorks
    is.... Toss It !

The best thing someone evaluating CADCAM software can do is look at VX
and make the effort to understand why VX is so much better then
    SaladWorks, Inventor, etc.

    "Do you work for VX?????"

It's very lucky for Joe Dunne that I don't work for VX.

Did you actually think what you had to say about VX compared to
Ironworks would fly with me ?

BTW, I like lots of stuff about IronWorks.

Do you actually think you know jack shit about VX ?

Perhaps it's time to get your head out of your ass and read the VX
links I posted and start dealing with reality.

So we should toss 3dinkies after you just sold it to all of us?

What's up with that? Or was it just your usual BS?

Just think of all we bought on your word and than had to junk
(on your word or because they did not work at all as promised).

You've promoted a huge list of junk, have you not? None of
which have you actually ever used for anything *productive*
yourself. None of which it seems you can actually directly
answer questions yourself about *that any actual user would
be easily able to answer themselves*.

BTW, How's that DOS BobCad working out for solving
2D triangles (which anyone *actually* working in a shop
should be able to easily solve with simple trig)?
You were raving about how good it was just a bit back ....
a bit after raving about the pictures of triangles your "boss"
had made for you ... in color, were they? And laminated?

    Understandable.The prospective buyers would expect
the seller to know sometrhing about the product being sold.
How about used cars? Or motel rooms?

Although this is a lopsided and unscientific poll, AutoDesk made no
attempt in hiding the fact that they sponsor it. In fact, the "fine
print" saying it is a AutoDesk poll is not really fine print, it looks
to be the exact same font size as the actual questions.

I quickly completed their poll, just so I could see the results. If you
look at the results of their poll, it actually isn't that bad. Their
results are probably better than what a similar poll would be for windows.
Everything, except for the question about Solidworks spending enough time
debugging and testing software was 10% or fewer having problems. Actually I
think that speaks well of the software. If only they would spend more time
    debugging the software.

The following is what the results of the poll are as of 1/5/06:

"12% of users find SolidWorks software slow when working with large
    assemblies.
10% find that SolidWorks crashes too often.
9% have experienced data loss when importing and exporting DWG file to
    or from SolidWorks.
7% have had SolidWorks corrupt files.
21% think SolidWorks does not spend enough time testing their software
    before they release it.
10% rely on AutoCAD or DWG-based products to finish some drawings.

There used to be such a thing as NFS corruption ...
    Might still be?
