    Hi,

Could someone please sum up the differences between autocad lt and
regulat. I would need to do not to complex _2D_ drawings.

Of course there is a huge difference in the price.

LT has no LISP, VBA, ARX, or VLX access, no Express Tools, no 3D commands
and no ALIGN or ATTREDEF or BATTMAN commands

  3. And no OTRACK, major bummer for 2D drafters (
However there are 3rd party products available for that.
    Start looking at www.drcauto.com

However... for a small cost (much less than a full blown version of
AutoCad)... grab a copy of LT TOOLKIT MAX from www.drcauto.com. WELL worth
the cost and providiesfull support for API's including - ObjectARX, ObjectDBX
    and AutoLISP.

    Hi,

at first, thank you for your Answers

I think I should be a little more precise as far as my use cases are
concerned. I never worked with lisp. I use autocad only to draw small 2d
drawings to feed a laser cutter for steel. I will never use it for 3d,
and I will never use it for bigger projects.
I am primarily interested in weather the handling of the 2d enviroment
    is quite the same.

Alex, for what you want to do, full-blown AutoCAD is overkill - LT is your
best bet. Be aware, though, that out-of-the-box it allows almost no
customization whatsoever. However, as others have written, you could always
purchase an add-on later that will give you lisp and other customization.
For instance, there are 3rd-party add-ons for AutoCAD which may assist you
    with the laser cutting.

You know, you may not need an Autodesk product at all. There are many other,
cheaper Cad packages that will do what you want, as long as you don't
absolutely need the exact AutoCAD interface. For basic drafting, they're not
    that different from AutoCAD.

    Oh, and another thing:

    "I never worked with lisp"

You don't need to learn or program in AutoLISP to use it. The point is there
are many programs written by others that act as plug-ins to AutoCAD which
you can use without knowing anything at all about lisp. There are many
shareware/freeware programs also. To use these on LT, you must install a
separate program that enables lisp, etc. on LT. It's not perfect, but is
many times cheaper than full AutoCAD.
