AutoCAD hangs plotting from model space

I have a problem with a few drawings where when one tries to plot from model
space they cause autocad to hang - cpu utilization goes way up and the
process must be killed to stop it.

    Using Map3D 2005, XP Pro, P4 2.8 w/ 1GB ram

I have tried to"fix" the drawings by recovery, audit and by wblocking them
out. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Do you have the latest SP for Map 3D? There was a model space plotting issue
with HP DesignJets that they fixed in SP1.

Comm Center tells me my product is up to date.
    Command: acadver
ACADVER = "16.1s (LMS Tech)" (read only)

The problem only happens with certain drawings-and it doesn't seem to matter
what plotter is the default to plot to I right click on the model tab and
select plot and AutoCAD hangs before even giving me a dialog box.

If I try to make a new page setup from the page setup manager, I click on
new and then it hangs. The page setup manager says the plotter is "DWF 6
eplot.pc3" I thought there might be something wrong with that pc3 so I
deleted it - the app still hangs, and then recreated it - the app still
    hangs.

In customer files I am placing a couple files - I deleted all of the
linework from the file and it still causes a hang. I then purged all ....

What plotter are you trying to plot to?

I'll see if I can look into your file later today.

That's just it - it doesn't even get far enough to select a plotter or
    printer.

Yep - totally hung my system also. If it's got stuff in it you need, I'd
suggest wblocking it out. I have no idea what's wrong with it...

    Ron,

Also hung up here. I did get it to work by changing the page setup to the
jpg printer, open the plot dialogue and print to the dwf from there. I did
not have problems after that even after saving, closing and reopening the
dwg. I did not try the noobjects-purged dwg

    Hi Pat,

What version of AutoCAD do you have? When I try to change the page setup it
    hangs.

Thanks so far to John and Pat.

Thanks John. At least I know it is someting with the drawing rather than an
installation issue. I am probably sending this on to my reseller now.

LDT2005 and Land enabled Map2005. It locked up when trying to modify the
page setup, but did let me make a new one. The wierd thing is the network
usage jumps up to .5 to .7% when the lockup occurs, like it's searching for
    something on the network.

Mine wouldn't let me make new or modify, but it would let me import - so as
a workaround until I figure out what's wrong, I made a file with modelspace
page setups and I import them into the problem drawings, which appears to
    fix them.
