AutoCAD for Structural Use - Architectural Desktop/Details

Is AutoCAD Architecture 2008 worth paying for, for structural use?

I used Architectural Desktop because of the 'Details' extension that
got merged into the program as a new system somewhere between
Architectural Desktop 4/2004 and 2006 (before that it was a seperate
install, and I do believe came with Vanilla AutoCAD. I haven't used
    AutoCAD Architecture.)

The Details functions and library information (Material Compose, Cut/
Cope Steel, Welding Symbols, Leaders, etc.) were the only real use we
in the structural field had for Architectural Desktop, but Material
Compose was worth it alone (now I am in Australia and we don't use
welding symbols here, but ocassionally I do work for the States.)
Leaders used to be a key part of it as well until they were added to
standard dimensioning and are better as they are a unique object
(Details leaders were just a polyline and shifting the leader line
twisted the arrow and it was a real pain.)

Isn't it time AutoCAD made a version for structure? Is there any way
to access the old 'Details' system in 2007/2008 without AutoCAD
    Architecture? Any other comments?
