AutoCAD baud rate, parity and handshake

    I am using ACAD 2000i and a HP 650 C plotter (I know that it is old) we reviously used an A/B switch box but I have done away with that and shared it with the other computers on the network. I get an error that the baud rate and parity are incorrect. If I understand it correctly, they have to be the same for the plotter and ACAD. I have gone into the plotter manager and cannot find where the baud rate and parity for ACAD is. I tried the ports tab and configure but all that comes up is a box for transmission retry in milliseconds setting. Does anyone have any ideas or can point me in the correct direction of how to fix this? Thank you in advance.
