I came in to work this morning and found that someone has loaded Acad R2005 on my machine.
I just barely got things set up for 2004.
Anything I'll have to be aware of when I open this new version?
Can I use the same kind of start up with my new menus (other than a new version number in the checker)?
Will the drawing converter for 2004 work in 2005?

    TIA

    Bill,

It is again proving the statement that if you ask for something, you
will not get it and if you didn't want it, you get it without asking.

I am sure a lot of people out here would want to swap places with you.

Actually you have to leave your old version under your pillow.

    :)

    Seriously,
It seems like a seamless conversion.
The admin did the on line registration.
I checked all the boxes for migrating old files from 2004 and had no problems except I'll have to change some of my custom stuff like support path names and remove a few files from the paths so Acad will read my network stuff like I did for r2004.
Seems like doslib still works and even dwgcvt.exe accepted a drawing I saved in 2005 (although it showed it as 2004 in the converter).

After several years of R14 and a failed mandate to switch over to a different software company, we were in process of switching to R2004, But our system tech brought up the issue about how the support time would be increased if we just went right to 2005 (we were so used to skipping a version or two).
Thje system admin said it was a subscription and would be updated soon anyway so he went ahead and somehow got the new version.

    "Rakesh Rao",

The old fishing analogy huh? If you try too hard you'll never catch a fish.
I hear that doesn't work with dynamite!
