Any help on why 2004 hangs-up for 45 +/- seconds when opening files
from one server but not another. This also happens on some clients but
    not others.

After some investigative work debugging with the registry, I have
    discovered that the registry key
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R16.0\ACAD-201:409\Applications\A
cadSign] refers to the acsign.arx file.
If I delete the key or rename the file, the problem appears to be
resolved (i think). I don't think it is advisable to just delete the
file perminantly as I am not too sure exactly what it does.

I have compared the arg to that on the computer that doesn't appear to
have this problem and they are the same. I also have compared the
Applications registry entries from the two machines and they appear to
    be the same.
    Thanks in advance!!!

The module mentioned is AutoCad Digital Signature server. Apparently it
tries to open a signed drawing and get a verification from the Verisign Inc.
I'm not too familiar with AC 2004, but some of your clients may use the
"SECURITYOPTIONS" and that is causing this hassle.

I agree, it may be related to the digital signitures/security, but it
does not explain why it happens to some users and not others. Or if I
copy the files to a different server and then open them, the problem
    does not occur.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks!!!!

The drawings are not using any security options that I can tell. The
problem occurs opening and saving 2000 format files which is from
before the security was built-in to Autocad as well as R2004 files
with the security. I also tried to wblock out and the hang does NOT
occur when writing the file. But when I open the wblock'ed file, it
    hangs!!!!
    HELP!!! Thanks in advance.
