AutoCAD 2000i Error

    have Autodesk Map 2000i Release 4.5 and a plotter HP-DesignJet 500 - 42 without HP-GL/2 card. When I send a drawing to plot, AutoCAD shows an ERROR FATAL. I have a computer with Windows 2000. I read the system requirements to the plotter and it says that I need the HP-GL/2 card if the software doesn`t use Windows driver. Is this the problem? If isn`t, what is the solution to my problem?

    The error is:

    "Runtime Error! acad.exe Abnormal program Termination"

    "Error FATAL: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x31a1090 Excception at 30d5d39h"
