What are the Cadence's Chip Assembly Router predecessors and
    successors?

    Thanks,
    Dan

  2. Well, predecessors aren't really worth talking about - it's been VCAR for some
time that is the tool for doing block routing for custom designs - it has had a
variety of names, including CCAR and IC Craftsman.

The latest tool for this is the Cadence Space-Based Router

I have started using VCAR and it seems to be very helpful for the
    design I am working on.
How about RTL synthesys tool (from VHDL to netlist), what is it
called now? I need something that syntesyses VHDL code to netlist that
can be imported to Encounter for layout synthesys. What is the name
for the .35um kit's standard cell libray that Encounter needs to
generate the layout from the netlist as the input?

    Thanks,
    Dan

  4. The Cadence RTL Synthesis tool is called "RTL Compiler". I've no idea what the
standard cell library is called, because that depends on the particular
technology you're using, and where you're getting the standard cells from (e.g.
    Artisan, or whatever).

    Regards,

    Andrew.
