$AUDIT-BAD-LAYER

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Steve Wojtynek, Feb 10, 2004.

  1. I've encountered this layer after auditing in the past, and I've usually
been able to get rid of the offending layer by moving any entities on the
layer to some other layer and then purging. I've currently got a drawing
    that won't let go...

I've checked and there are no entities on $AUDIT-BAD-LAYER.
I've checked and there are no entities on $AUDIT-BAD-LAYER in the xrefs used
    by the stubborn file.
I've even tried using the Layer Translator to change everything on that
    layer to layer 0.
I've Audited and Fixed all the drawings involved.
Any ideas where he could be hiding?

It's not inside a block is it?

    Have you tried Superpurge?

  5. Found it!... (A nice fellow named Kevin gave me the clue.)

I tried using LAYDEL to delete $AUDIT-BAD-LAYER, but couldn't because it
said some object in the drawing was referencing it. That led me to the
xref. I checked (using SSX routine) the Defpoints layer in the xref and
found that there were (supposedly) no entities on Defpoints. I changed the
name of Defpoints to FRED, drew a line on FRED, and used LAYDEL to get rid
of FRED. I saw a ton of those mysterious *D blocks whiz by as it deleted
the FRED layer, indicating that there was indeed a ton of stuff buried on
    the old Defpoints layer.

Walt, where do I find a copy of SuperPurge?
