Attempting to RUN ProEng WildFire on SGI and display across the network

Discussion in 'Pro/Engineer & Creo Elements/Pro' started by Daniel Brunelle, Jan 16, 2004.

  1. In order to get pass the 2GByte Virtual Memory Limit of a 32 bits Windows XP
system, we Installed ProEng Wildfire on a SGI Origin hoping to use a Windows
XP system with Exceed and Exceed 3D as a front End Terminal.

Upon Starting ProEng we get a message to the effect that OPENGL is not
available and that X-Window will be used instead. We also tried a Linux and
genuine SGI Workstation as the remote workstation with the same result.

Is OPENGL across the network supported by ProEng ?

  2. If you are using a remote X Display on a PC.
The PC is the graphics server and the SGI is the graphics client.
IIRC this means that the X implementation on your Windows or Linux
system has to be able to accept OpenGL calls.
If it doesn't the SGI can't use OpenGL.

    Best regards,
