Assign function to RMB?

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by bill allemann, Sep 29, 2006.

  1. Is it possible to assign a function like "Move Component" (the free drag
icon) to the RMB with a drag motion, similar to the way Rotate Component
works with the middle button, or wheel? The default setup doesn't appear to
    use RMB-drag for anything.

    Thanks,
    Bill

  2. I don't know that you can assign a function to a mouse key like that, but
your particular example of moving components is already there - just LMB and
    drag.

  3. Doh!
For some reason, I've never used the LMB for that. I always went for the
    icon.
And guess what? An RMB drag does the rotate component thing.
    Thanks,
    Bill

I think you have to use and Add-In to add something to the RMB menu.

I too use the LMB as stated in other posts, but when you first insert a
component in an assembly and it defaults to being at the origin buried
inside an existing part (or you just can't find it in the graphics
area)...there's no way to LMB it except from the Feature Tree. And
since I can't stand searching the RMB menu's, I added a hotkey for
    'Move Component'. Works great.
