    Hi,
Just had a quote and I am staggered at the pricing, is this a rip off
    or normal.

    HD Plasma Cut Rects 1230 mm x 252 mm x 6mm 316L £79.31

    Thanks

You don't mention how much volume.
And there are other ways to make such bits of stock than
    plasma cutting.
    Shearing, saws, machining, waterjet, ....
Did you call some SS supply houses for quotes?

Stainless steel costs are outrageous these days. This pricing is
accurate with labor. I only have one suggestion. We have been
replacing most of our SS304 applications with lower nickel alloys,
specifically an ultra lean duplex grade of 2101. This does change
manufacturing processes. SS was great back when it was less than a
dollar a pound but now it has become a burden to the cost of our
products. The other options are coatings and plating’s to achieve the
    same exterior result. iQ
