I do believe there's a shortcut for capturing a toolbar and saving it as a
    bmp.

Does anyone remember? ctrl+printscreen captures the screen.

I use this (neat) screen capture. Can output in many formats. Including .bmp.
Does whole screen or marked window.

ALT+PrnScr captures the active "main" window (winn not get just a toolbar)

www.techsmith.com has a product called SnagIt that will let you capture just about any part (and any shape) of the screen that you want.

I tried it, but it seems to be just like ctrl-printscreen, and uses it's own
    drawing editor.

Unless there's a hotkey for just the toolbar.
