Anybody using a HP 1050C?

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Paul Humphrey, Aug 15, 2003.

  1. We are looking to purchase a HP Designjet 1050C+ 36" plotter for
approximately $7000. We are going to get a demo to play with for a week
before purchase, but thought I would gather some feedback from any of you
    guys/gals who may have one.

    Are you impressed with it?

    Thanks,

  2. Thanks, Ron.
Since posting, I did a search of the group and found quite a few entries for
1050C. It seems to be a fairly popular plotter. Problem is no one comments
on it's performance, just it's failings (whether user or software), but,
    hey, that's what NG's are for ;)

I hope to get more positive feedback, because I am getting a bit excited to
not have to wait 5 minutes for a print, and the price seems reasonable
(about what the 650C costs 10 years ago).

We will be using it mostly for BW, but would love to run some color stuff
through it. Some the examples the rep brought look pretty impressive.

    Thanks again

for CAD color output you will not find a better plotter then the HP1050.
The HP1050 ist the fastest plotter available.
    It's about 3 - 6 times faster then a HP650.
To repleace a 650 you have today two choices....

    A) If quality is your choice then you may look at the HP800.
(HP800 is slower then the 1050. but has better Image quality)
    B) If speed is your choice then the HP1050.
(There is also a lw price model HP500, but I don't recomand it)

Just by the wey, the HP1050 use the same driver series as the 650. (Driver
    4.x), and is about 99% compatible to a HP650.

The HP800 us new drivers series.(5.x)
If you have old PLT stored created with an HP650 driver, you get sometimes
    problems.

    Toni

    Excellent plotter...
max out the memory, add the hard dxrive, and get the latest firmware from hp
and you'll never have a problem. I built a rack to hold the extra roll when
changing paper sizes. I can send you the plans if you want.
