Hi Aj, i do not have any projects I can easily contract
out to universities, but we are always looking for
students interested in internships. There is no end
of interesting projects to be worked on. My area
is sofware development for EDA. Students should have
a strong programming background, preferably in Lisp.

Where is your university? Is it in Europe?

In addition to what has already been posted, note that Cadence has at
least two large programs especially focused on universities and the
    needs of the universities.

One of those two programs runs the Cadence Repository for Electronic
Technical Information (aka CRETE) web site (http://crete.cadence.com).
The home page for CRETE describes its purpose as:

"The Cadence University Program is a collaboration between Academia and
Industry. The intent is for University students to be able to get real
life experience prior to graduation. The Project started at Cal-State
Long Beach and now reaches around the Globe. On the following pages you
will see the results of the efforts by students faculty and Industry.
Please register and take a look around. This is an open source site. We
encourage participation in the development of the materials. Please
contact the web master if you would like to add your school to this
site. This is a public repository. Cadence Design Systems will monitor
    the content."
