We just replaced our large format Xerox 8830 with a KIP printer. Is there
any problems that anyone knows about concerning plotting, drivers, plot
files, etc. when using a KIP?

    Dennis -

In addition to any new posts you receive, The discussion group
search engine provides flexibility for searching through existing
    message content. To search:

    1. Go to http://discussion.autodesk.com/

    2. Select a product (Example: AutoCAD and under there the print
    plot pull down at
    http://discussion.autodesk.com/forum.jspa?forumID=30).

    3. Type your keywords into the search box and click Search.
Putting in "KIP" without the "" yiels 89 previous topics on this
    subject.

Note: You can further refine your query by selecting a specific
discussion group from the dropdown provided. Your group choices
will vary in the drop down, based on where you have navigated on
    the discussion group site.

Search results are sorted by relevance (a complex query of all
relevant content based on your keywords and group choices).
Clicking on the message result will display the entire thread
(the series of messages and replies).

We just use plain AutoCAD, but have had no problems plotting straight to our KIP or plotting to file and sending files to the plotter. This is our second KIP, started out with a 4000 and graduated to a 8000.

  5. Ecable - In what area of the USA are you located? I have seen your
other replies on your success with the KIP8000 and would like to know
your dealer details. We were just quoted $0.095 per sq.ft. for a
KIP8000 and it sounds like you have a better hook up for costs <g>.

    Thanks,

We are located in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Luckily we are right around the corner from KIP America, the North American distributor for KIP and bought straight from them. They also do our service contract since they are so close. Their website is www.kipamerica.com and the toll free number is
    800-252-6793.
Our cost with paper, toner, service contract and lease is approximately $0.035 per sq. ft. and we print 70,000 sq. ft. per mopnth. We can't even get copies made outsource for that price.
I can't say enough about the KIP or their software, the machine has been the best thing we have done around here.
Let me know if you need more information.
