AIS / AIP NLS mixed environment, help

Hi, in few days I have to make a new install by a customer.

They have 2 * AIS 8 NLS and 1 * AIP 8 NLS licenses, with different serial no

After reading the 1 page "AIP_network_installation_addendum.pdf" document, I can see that
Autodesk suggest using the AIP cd for NLS install of Inventor Pro, since an additional icon for
Inventor also is created. Furtermore is it suggested that MDT/ ACAD 2004 is installed from the
AIS 8 CD, so they only takes up one AIS NLS license.

My big quistion is, how can the Inventor icon ensure that only an AIS license is taken, when
that Inventor license is installed from the AIP CD with the AIP serial?
The AIS NLS license pool has another serial no, see also FlexLM license files below (modified a
little)

Hi, it would be really nice, if someone could give some tips about mixed AIS / API NLS install

 

My conclussion after some investigation, is that if the customer wishes the full flexibility
from floating AIS & AIP NLS licenses, where each of the 4 client PC's can choose from following
pool's:
2 x AIS 8 NLS
1 x AIP 8 NLS

Note, that AIS and AIP has different serialno's

Then I have to install full:
AIP with Inventor, MDT, Vault on all 4 client PC's + full
AIS also with Inventor, MDT, Vault again all 4 client PC's

I'm by the way not sure that Vault could accept double install?


Another idea, that might give a solution, is if we could get FlexLM license codes for both AIS
+ AIP but with the same serial no (see modified example license file below), since AIP 8 NLS
installs put an AIS icon on the desktop, and the serials are the same, this should be ok. But
how would AutoCAD 2004 from the AIS & AIP license-package, then react. If this part is
installed on all 4 client PC's from the AIS cd, then I guess that this only would be able to
request a total of 2 licenses from the AIS license-pool???
