ACAD2002, win2000

  1. I'm getting an error plotting to LPT1

An error box labeled "Printers Folder" comes up and says
There was an error printing thr document XXXX to LPT1. do you want to retry
    or cancel...

    Win 2000 pro, ACAD2002

If I ununstall the printer, Logoff and back on, and re-install the printer
it will print for 2-3 plots, then hangs again...

I've made sure "everyone" can print
    I've shared the printer

    I'm about to load W2ksp3 and W2ksp4.

    Will this help?

  2. Kevin,

looks like a problem external to AutoCAD. Does it work printing from other
programs ? Have a look at:

    - problematic cable
    - bad driver
    - driver setup (bidirectional port).

What make of printer is it, how is connected to the computer ?

  3. Gilles,

    Thanks for your response

You are correct not AutoCAD, a Win 2000 thing.

If I delete the printer, logout, login, re-install the printer, it will plot
2-3 times then I get the error.

I read about deleting the printer drivers. Open printers > File > Server
Properties. I deleted all drivers not being used and that may fix it. There
was one I could't delete, Windoz said it is in use. Once I find out how to
get rid of that one all should be well.

    Any other Ideas.

  4. Dean,

    Thanks for the reply!

In safe mode the service is not started, so is not available. I deleted the
driver location (...w32x86\2) and rebooted. it's still there. All that is
left is a registry edit... I have the procedure... Any one else?

  5. Follow UP!

    Huston we have a solution.

I guess the HP 500 doesn't support or in this case doesn't like
by-directional plotting checked in the print properties dialog. Go figure.
Un-checked it re-booted and all is well.

I shure learn a lot this way.. On to the windoz 2000 compatibility issue and
    my verbatim 321240AL R/W CD
