Acad crashes on plotting to HP 1220 c

The PC's in our LAN appear to have a problem with this plotter: upon plotting drawings with tiff backgrounds from Autocad or Map the program crashes completely and shuts off without saving.

Plotting the same drawings on another printer / plotter works fine, and we have already tried replacing the plotters drivers: no improvement.

    Anybody with suggestions?

    TIA

    Hi Ludo!

I've experienced a similar scenario and resolved it with a print to file
approach, and use a plot spooler with the print to file, as follows...

Install your windows hp 1220c Printer Drivers, only setup for the port--
FILE; set this printer as default. Setup a C:\Spool Folder on YOUR PC
and map as drive-- Y: (or what you prefer!), and set the mapping to
automatic for every logon. Get printfile (via
http://www.lerup.com/printfile/ ) and set it up as a spooler with a link
in the startup folder, to search for all files in C:\Spool and send to
network port for hp1220c Printer... OR if Printer PC w/ USB for hp1220c,
then setup the C:\Spool folder on it with the PrintFile running to send
to USB hp, and share the Spool Folder as Spool, and users' PC maps that
    share as Y:

Then when printing (as in acad) to hp 1220c FILE, type in Y:\ and give a
basic name like, file.prn or plot.plt ...then hit enter and away the
print file goes to the spool folder on the print PC, then the printfile
grabs it and sends it off to the printer!

    Ciao!
