    Hi all,

I'm having a frustrating time trying to copy an assembly in sw
explorer. After setting everything up new folder and new naming scheme
etc. sw explorer fails with a message "Can't update assembly - it's
either in use or read only" Yes or No.

Neither explanation is true. Yet after rebooting etc and trying many
    times the same thing happens.
This is sw2004 sp0.0 Is this possibly a sp related bug?

    TIA

It can't be opened in SW when SW Explorer needs it. They are separate EXEs.

    Hello Zander,

Is it possible that the assembly was transfered (copied via Windows
Explorer, for example) from a CD to your network or local drive?

If so, the Read Only attribute is carried over by each file.

I've run into cases where such file attributes had to be manually
removed in order to "free things up"...

  4. SW2004 SP5.0 W2k:
Just had a pb opening an assy. The assy would display, zoom in/out OK, but
no access to features or other documents open. Closing the assy would crash
SW with something like: "the memory adress xxxx cannot be read bla bla...".

After a couple of trials, back to normal after deleting the "tilde-dollar"
(~$) -filename file that was left (hidden).

Had a bunch of these files hanging around before with no problem...

If you try copying in SW from the find references menu item what
    happens?
