a thief

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by stampante_laser, May 25, 2005.

  1. there is a person who posts in many newsgroups using the email address
. He wants to sell copied CDs. This person is only a thief.
He just receives your money but does not send any CD to you. You are
    warned!

Thanks, but is it more wrong for him to steal from you than to sell you
stolen goods? Is there more than one thief here?

    Cheers.

Why did you send the thief money to "buy" stolen software?
You ALREADY knew he was a thief (and you became one too by
    sending money for stolen goods)!!!

  5. I understand perfectly what you all mean. My logic works enough good.
Since in the past I have wasted a lot of money for software that did
not work as I thought or as I wanted, since it is not always possible
to download a trial version of all the things I'd like to try, since I
don't have more money to waste, now I prefer to buy a copy whenever I
don't have the possibility to try a product in the best conditions. If
I find something interesting and for me useful, I buy then the original
version. I thought many people did like me. I thought this was not so
strange. In this way I am saving money and am correct. We should make
the first critic to all those producers who don't give the possibility
to try their products before buying, If you want to buy a car you can
try it. Same thing for clothes, watches, telephones, etc. For many
softwares it is not so easy, and you have simply to trust what you read
in a simple information page. Due to this limitation, I have lost a lot
of money. My conscience is clean, and I don't need your divine judgment.

EXCEPT, this is what VAR's are for. I think we all can agree with you
in principle, but there are in fact mechanisms in place to address
exactly these issues. Instead of furthering software piracy, you can
contact your VAR. I'm sure he will be happy to give you a full demo. I
*think* there is also a limited "educational" version they may have
access to. We're all in the same boat, and getting on a newsgroup
where we've all paid our $6000 can rub us the wrong way.

Just a little tarnish for you clean conscience, most software companies do
offer trial versions. Personally, I think your full of $h!t because, if
you were doing as you said and were just ILLEGAL COPY shopping, you probably
couldn't afford to buy a multi-thousand dollar copy of software, and based
upon the fact that you are posting and reading to comp.cad.solidworks, you
were attempting to scam a copy of SolidWorks which we all know DOES offer a
trial version. You probably won't go to jail for attempted thievery, but we
can be satisfied with the fact that you got SCREWED by the other thief. HA,
    HA!

  8. You are totally wrong ;-) You are just supposing, but naturally don't
know me. So like many idiots you are one of those who try to judge
people and situations that they ignore. As said, this behaviour is very
common amongst idiots. In fact I don't have anything to do with
SolidWorks, with CAD, and with this newsgroup, because I make music. I
simply searched with Google where this person posted his offers, and
thought it could be a good idea to warn you all. But if I see the
answers I am receiving, I think I was wrong. Take a look to the world
of music software and sounds, and will be surprised to see how many
don't give trial version of their products. I am already tired to
discuss with you. I wanted just to inform all you about this person,
and that's all. If I was simply the thief you believe I would have had
no reason to complain here like a fool for the damage I suffered while
trying to **** software companies. I would have had no reason, because
I am not so idiot and incoherent like you. Now think what you prefer
and be happy. I have said my last word.

You WANTED to BUY what was VERY clearly stolen/cracked
    software.
What else do we need to know?

That a known thief took your money should not
come as a shock to you, now should it?
After all, "wcd" is a THIEF.

Now, try complaining to the police or sueing ..... LOL ....

Right, anyone who's not an idiot would have their credit card company
cancel the charges because of fraudulent business practices. Then you
have the software and really didn't have to pay for it. Scam the
    scammer.

Seriously, there is no way to ethically justify buying something that
you know is stolen. If you know it's wrong and you still do it, your
issue, not my affair. Just don't try to tell me it's not wrong.

What??? And give as the reason that you did not get the stolen
    software that you paid for?

In any case, I think he left in a huff.

Wait til he sees his credit card bills & bank statements
for the next few months <g>. IF he's bright enough to check them.

  14. 1) no shock for me. I wanted just to warn all you. For no other reason
    I wrote here.
    2) I am not complaining. I wanted only to warn you.
    3) Someone here has thought I paid using CC. Only an idiot could think
this. And here there are many.
    4) All your poor words did not have any effect on my conscience. I
mean: in my life I have lost a lot of money with original software and
sounds. In many cases I was not able to use those products as I wanted.
I had to find a solution. So *****WHENEVER**** (do you understand this
word? It does not seem so) it is for me not possible to work on a
**trial** version **to try** a product that (maybe) I'd like to buy,
I will again work first on a copy (no matter if I buy it or receive
gratis from a friend), then will buy the original version only if I am
100% sure I can use it.
    5) I don't ask you to understand this simple process, since I already
understood that you have not enough neurons to understand this. ;-) Be
happy in spite of that, if you can!

Wasting your breath on here. By receiving stolen goods, you are as
guilty as the person who did the stealing in the first place.

    Have a nice day ;-)

You seem to think that you have the right to use (try, as you say) anything
you like no matter how you get it.
    You don't.
By the law of your country, you are guilty the moment the stolen good ends
    up in your hands.

okay okay... settle down everyone... Have a round on me.

Selectro - You know the law of the land this bloke is from? - which land
    exactly?

Cliff - please, stop being nasty.

Stampate - The guys (and gals) around here do have a point. Piracy is
piracy and piracy is stealing and that is naughty - what would Granny
say?... blah blah blah... I do however happen to believe you that you are
genuine in that you did not intend to steal 'permanently', mainly because
you have taken the time to respond to some rather nasty replies.
Unfortunately, this does not affect my personal opinion that what you were
attempting to do was downright wrong, and Granny would have been mighty
    pissed.

All that said: PLEASE - don't do that again! You seem to have found 2 very
effective ways of wasting your money. 1 is buying software from folks who
can't write code (trust me, been there too - I know how you feel - but
stealing from those who can makes it worse). The other is attempting to
    purchase stolen goods.

In EVERY instance where I have wanted to (or have) purchase software I have
been able to have a trial version/some form of proof, with the exception of
one (later). All you have to do is CALL THE VAR, if they don't have a var,
CALL THEM!!! tell them where you are at, and what you want to know, and blah
blah blah... if you are genuine, this is no skin off your nose, and they
want to sell stuff, so they will let you try before you buy... shit - you
can even do it with windows!

OK: later now - the software I couldn't try-before-I-buy was some 2D thingo
I bought from a newsagent for $10 when I was a student... weird thing... it
did more than Autocad (LT) does now! (and DWG Editor for that matter) - go
    figure!
