Has any one had any luck bringing in a file from 3d max 6 to SolidWorks.
Have not had any luck with the .stl export.

Try bringing it into Rhino3D, and from there into SolidWorks.

  3. It would only fail if the STL is not valid, that is, it's not a closed
    (water tight) volume.
So, there maybe a open seam or a facet failed to close?
I'm not sure if Max has repair or check tools but maybe if you reimport
the STL file you could check it?
