Is there a 3D section in Autocad 2008? I am moving into it very
shortly and want to get a head up on it.
I heard something about it. Or are they refering to Inventor or
    Mechanical Desktop.

    Any input is appreciated.

  2. Yeah, there's no 3d "mode" or section. The default view is in plan to the
WCS, but if you set the view to one not parallel to the grid you'll "see"
3d. If you set your THICKNESS and ELEVATION to something other than zero
you'll be "drawing" 3d without even trying. Start entering Z coordinates in
your drawing and you're really drawing in 3d.

IOW, 2d in acad is just 3d without elevation, thickness, or any Z
    coordinates other than zero.
