    Thanks.

Sorry for this repsonse: if you are looking for a SW model, can't help
(I know, not much help). However, if you need "just" a 3D model, try
www.turbosquid.com" for starters. Hope this helps...

  3. ShapeWorks can open any 3DS, OBJ, LWO files in SolidWorks files and
    assemblies.
There are thousands of 3DS file on Internet.

    ShapeWorks is located at www.baren-boym.com

    Hi Michael,

This is very interesting news to me! Do they come in as
"solids" or as graphical representations? In other words, once they're
brought in , can you cut-extrude etc.? I realize that you (may not?)
be able to manipulate the surfaces, or can you? How much is
ShapeWorks? I would LOVE to see an example model of something that has
benn converted from a poly mesh to a SW solid. Thanks!

  5. Michael, once you bring the 3DS file into SW it is still polygonal mesh.
    You have several options:
    1. ShapeWorks can automatically convert 3DS file into solidworks solid or
surfaces. But it is still represented as small surfaces patches. SEE THE
    USER GUIDE
    2. You can recreate SW geometry by automatically creating 3D sketch in the
    plane sections.
