This post duplicates some of the same in the ADT 2005 Group. I am posting here as requested by Autodesk staff.

This issue is of concern to anyone that used the mm - inches selection in the Paper Size and Paper Units in 2004 products area of the plot dialogue window. It is gone in the 2005 products. Autodesk felt that it was best to tie the units function to the paper type and size selected. Basically if you chose Arch D (24x36) the units will automatically display as imperial (inches). If you select a paper size ISO A0 (841x1189) the units will automatically display as metric (millimeters).

Here is the problem in "fixing something" that was not broken.

We draft in mm about 95% of the time. The common sheet size to produce drawings on is 24x36. This makes my units on the page set up display as inches. Not good.

There are also times where users want to plot from model space, a metric drawing, on 11x17 or letter size paper. They want to plot a windowed area at 1:20 or 1:125 but the plot dialogue box is defaulting to inches. What is the conversion? I am not a mathematics wizard, nor are most cadders.

Autodesk needs to understand that just because a drawing is in metric or imperial does not mean that it is going to be plotted on the same metric or imperial size paper. In our field, in our area, 24x36 is the common sheet and metric is the common unit. I understand if it is a simple paper space 1:1 that my units will display as 1 inch = 25.4 units but the problem arises when other scales are required in model space and paper space.

The mm - inches buttons need to come back. Paper Size units(imperial or metric) are not always representative of the drawing units.
This is a poor assumption on Autodesk's part.

    Thanks
