Having not long upgraded from 2001+ to 2005 there are a lot of
features I need to catch up on. I would like to be able to change some
of the standard notes produced by the hole callout command. A simple
one to start with, the variable <hw_thru> puts in 'THRU ALL' I would
like to change this to just 'THRU' were will I find it defined. I
notice it is not listed in the variables at the bottom of the file
calloutformat.txt. My next step would be to change the number off
function of the note from '2 x' to '(2)' , this is the variable
'<NUM_INST>' and also doesnot appear in the list. Can anyone point me
    in the right direction?

Look into he "callouformat.txt" file located in directory
    SW\lang\english or whatever.
we did exactly this, along with many other edits. If working in a
multi-user environment, be sure to place the file on a network drive
and use the SW System Option for File Locations to set the pointer or
link for "Hole Callout Format File.

Yes, I have been working with this file which is fine for removing or
editing bits of standard text i.e. I have removed the thread tolerance
from tapped holes. What I would like to do is to edit what the format
variables display i.e. one of my clients wants threads shown as 'M.5'
not 'M5'. Also this file does not control how numbers off of holes are
shown i.e. the 'NUM_INST' variable use by the hole callout command.
This feature is much improved but of course is never what you really
want. What purpose does the call out note on a cosmetic thread now
serve on holes inserted using the wizard.

Hole wizard seems still half baked and half functional. SW seems to be
ignoring it. Hole callouts no longer include thread pitch callouts for
metric tapped holes! How basic is that? My VAR said that it was going to
be fixed in SP 1.0 which is taking forever. I pretty much have to manually
type all my hole callout now days to get what I need.

After playing with the calloutformat.txt file for a while your half
functional comment looks an exageration. I think the problem with
trying to introduce spaces into the text has been noted before, I also
found that if you do not call for a cosmetic thread in the wizard then
the hole is shown with the max thread dia and a different callout is
used from the file. No callout is provided for a through hole with a
blind tapping and a cosmetic thread and it would appear that you
cannot add new callouts to the file. Has anyone else looked at this
feature. Maybe SP 1.0 will give the wizard and callout functions the
    flexibility they should really have.

if you create a new standard based on an existing standard, the hole callouts / hole cannot be picked up in the drawing.
    ....
If you add to the template file the information for this new standard
    <<<

It worked for us. We created a standard, called OUR STANDARD, based off
of the ANSI INCH. After creating the standard, you have to manually go
into the calloutformat.txt, find [ANSI INCH], copy everything between
the long line of *'s, paste it in after one of the other standards,
then rename the [ANSI INCH] to match you standard's name, for us it was
    [OUR STANDARD].

Make sure you make a backup copy first. Double-check that you pasted at
the end of another standard (not in the middle of one), and follow the
conventions in there for where the *'s go.

If it still doesn't work make sure your Tools/Options is actually
looking at the location in which you are editing the callout file.
