    SolidWorks! SolidWorks! RAH! RAH! RAH!

    Mr. Know-it-all-i'm-perfect-and-am-better-than-anybody-else-armidillo-f-er,

Your insults towards some of the most highly recognized SolidWorks experts
in the world have just now labeled you an official asshole. Good luck in
getting SolidWorks to fix those SPRs cause your not going to get any help
here. But, then again, your most high, I guess receeding from this lowly
newsgroup is in your best interests anyway.

I would like to give you a sincere thanks for straightening us all out on
just accepting the bugs and spending hours on helping SolidWorks with fixing
their software, while paying them to do so, just to have our SPR's thrown
away into cyberspace somewhere. Your great wisdom has made me change my ways
and I will no longer bitch about how their issues with memory management do
not allow me to complete my large assembly drawings and just accept that I
have to cut and paste screen captures onto the drawing sheet.
I hope you don't mind that from now on when I have a problem I will contact
you directly because you can give me the best guidance on how to work around
it than anyone else in the world can.

    You humble servant,
Lowly SolidWorks bithcing idiot that doesn't know how to work around bugs,
    Jeff

BTW-You should apply at SolidWorks as a consultant or better yet, CEO. All
of us here at the NG would be greatly appreciative to have someone with your
expert knowledge leading the development of their software. Just think about
it gang: Mr. Perfect putting in more bugs just so we can figure out
workarounds and be happy. Man, I really can't wait! Can you raise
subscription costs too? All those extra bugs are really gonna cost
    SolidWorks some money.

    Geez guys,

All I wanted to do was let everybody know that 2004 SP2 was up. I know I'm
in the excessive bitchers group, but just because I mention that a service
pack came out doesn't mean that you have to jump down my throat! LOL

    Extrude and smile,

Did all of the dimensions that changed have the "use documents precision"
    turned off?

Were these dimensions where you keyed in a specific value, like .125, or
were they dims where you just drew a line and accepted whatever dimension
it came out to be such that the display was 8 digits when you dbl clicked
    the dim?

Were they driving or driven dimensions, meaning model items or created in
    the drw?

If you did it another (easier) way (using SW Explorer), do you get the
    same result?

I haven't seen this problem before, but these questions are where I would
    start looking for an answer.

And damn Jeff, it wasn't even really up yet. The next time you start a war
between the bitchers and the non-bitchers make sure the statement is
    accurate. Har LOL.

"2004 SP2 is up" - the shot heard round the world. Who woulda thunk it?

Doesn't take much to form two line around here huh?

According to this thread it sounds like anyone here can do a fair amount of
bitching. About what is the issue. The other thing I really find
interesting is that I never have a problem with people complaining about me,
or software, etc. but the personal insults I find really out of place. But
the non-bitchers who tell us not to bitch never come to the aid of someone
being personally attacked the way Mike was. The people who did may be
classified as bitchers. So the non bitchers correct us on bitching but they
don't remind anyone how inappropriate personal insults are. If they want to
be P.C. Police then they should do a better job.

    - Eddy

BTW... don't stop bitching. It's the closest thing we're gonna have to a
revolution to change the direction they're going. I'm not renewing this
year as a result of our collective bitching. Without others bitching I
wouldn't know that I'm not on an island.

  5. Again, "physician, heal thyself". You gave us all some good advice in an
obnoxious way. People reacted to your manner more than your words, and now
your pants are all in a bunch.
Good advice. We should listen to you. Perhaps you should have listened to
    yourself.
Absolutely. So, what's your name? What's your company's name?
And you don't seem to be able to see how your posts were a little
unpleasant? Heard the story about the pot calling the kettle black?
If you would take the chip off your shoulder you could probably make some
good inputs here. Too bad you're slinking off before we can all work it out.

Not that I'm offended but I, basically a non bitcher, posted for the sole
    purpose of defending Mike.

No harm, no foul. I might as well take this opportunity to qualify my
statements about bitching. It is many times informative, constructive,
valuable, and done by folks who really know the product and have very valid
concerns. But many other times it is mindless ranting by those who have
limited experience with the software and who post for no constructive
reason. Yes it is an open forum, and I respect people's right to express
themselves freely, I just think that the shear volume of it detracts from
the general tone and usefulness of the forum. This is especially true when
people make it strongly inflammatory. Maybe I'm just a sensitive kind of
    guy. :)

I get similarly frustrated with folks who post questions without ever
searching the archives. It would behoove us all to have a FAQ and to
encourage newbies to review it (though I am not by any means volunteering
for the task). Still, it is obvious that many don't even check the SW Help
before posting so the FAQ would not be a panacea. Of course the biggest
problem this forum has is JB and HC (I count them as a single entity) but
they are easily handled with a filter.

Well that's my little rant. I wish you all a very happy holiday season,

  9. Jerry:

I want to be careful not to aim any of this at you. You are one of
the more moderate folks here, but I do think you try to act as a
collective conscience sometimes and wind up defending the wrong people
from time to time, like this time.
I think some people have not understood my meaning properly. To say
it more directly: It is easy to throw punches at Solidworks when you
know no one from Solidworks is going to defend the company or the
product. I was not talking about people attacking me, I really
    couldnt care less.
Well, yes. They were unpleasant to write. Im not making a career of
this. Im here, I said my peace and now if you will permit, Im going
    to leave.

Who thinks Banquer has ever added anything positive to this group?
Several folks here smell a lot like Banquer sometimes, or a little
    like him all the time.

All these people seem to acheive is ridicule (of SW, of people,
whatever), and I cant see anything positive coming of that. I dont
think a rational argument can be made that ridicule brings positive
    changes.
Here I had written a few things that were true but you would consider
them inflammatory and insulting, so Ill leave it out. I dont believe
there is anything to work out, and I have no interest in contributing
here if the atmosphere is controlled by the "militant ridicule
brigade". Im not slinking off, Im just leaving, a bit disgusted.
Since you seem obcessed with this, I am Howard Hobart and work in a 3
man design firm near Elk City, Oklahoma. Do you want to visit for
    tea?

There is something I want to state explicitly for those who had
    problems understanding it earlier:

I have never defended the software, so all of this cheerleader,
Solidworks shill nonsense belongs to someone elses imagination.
Nothing I posted was about the software at all. It is all about
people whose default self esteem mechanism comes from ridiculing
whatever presents itself in a public place.

  12. Actually, I can be as much of a whiner as anyone here. You just haven't read
enough of my posts! I just thought that you criticized some folks
prematurely, painted them with too broad a brush. Sometimes they whine.
Sometimes they come up with great workarounds.
I wish you wouldn't. The guys you lit into initially, and the folks who
flamed you in return, often have very useful things to say. I think we could
all learn something from a civil interchange. It's not what you said so much
as the tone that got folks all riled up. Lighten up a bit, don't take some
of the whining and bitching too seriously and we can all enjoy ourselves.
That would be nice, but it's a bit far from Corvallis, Oregon! I was
obsessed about your identity because I don't like dealing with folks who
hide behind an alias. If you prefer to go by Armadillo Hunter, that's fine
by me, now that I know there is a real person behind the mask. I don't worry
    about
You have to realize that people will tend to jump to that conclusion because
they see that type of behavior periodically in the newsgroup. Especially
when someone comes in with a new alias.
I think you are reading too much in to what folks said in this thread. They
are frustrated and they let off some steam. It's about steam, not
    self-esteem.
Thanks, Howard, or Mr. Hobart, or Armadillo Hunter, if you prefer.

Hmmmm, think you are being a bit of an idiot yourself!

    Quote

If you cant make SolidWorks work to get your job done, there is
something seriously wrong, and its your fault. You have selected the
wrong tool. Theatrical whining to create a sensation in a public
place won't help you, and it won't make the tools better or people at
SolidWorks listen to you. You'd better put it back in the box and
send it back because youre too stupid to use it.

    Unquote

A tt imes i think I have selected the wrong toll, and yes i moan, this
makes m too stupid to use the software?

No other software we use has the same repeated bugs as SW does.

I havent had autoCAD crash since march 2001.

We have payed a lot of money and at times are not satisfied, which to
    me is grounds for moaning.
