After working with SW for a while, the "zero geometry" error pops up often
enough to be a pest. Someone else who uses SW tells me it's because SW
doesn't know what you want it to do when that happens, leave material or
take it out. This person told me the only way around that as far as he
knows is to move one of the dimension about .001 (a very small amount) to
avoid that particular error. That's what I've been doing and it does meet
my needs but is that the only way around this error?

  2. Norm,

This sometime happens when you fill a void in a solid part to it's exact
dimensions. An example is a web to support the top and bottm flanges of a
C-shaped beam. If you use the inside surfaces of the C-beam to convert
entities to your sketch lines for the web (or rib), you will someimes get
the "zero clearnce geometry" message when you attempt to extrude. I believe
the advice you got was correct. I have found that if you expand just one
line your profile into the body of the C-beam, no matter how small the
    intrusion, the web extrudes normally.

    Regards,

There is an article in the Knowledge base about this. I think it is under
    sweeps.
